Viva Las Vegas, August 11 - 14, 2006 Thursday, August 10: We were supposed to fly to Las Vegas today. However, the Brit's arrested 23 suspected terrorists and thru a monkey wrench into the works. It appears the terrorists were creating liquid explosives. So, as a result, travelers could not carry any liquids with them on the plane. You could carry them in your checked bags. We left the stuff home...did not want any trouble. Anyway, we get to the airport with time to spare. We check in, clear security and wait...and wait...and wait. Our flight is delayed, but they have not told us why. I finally check with the gate agent and am told that there is 'weather' in Atlanta and numerous flights have been delayed or diverted. Finally, after six hours in the airport, they reschedule us and send us home. I am so worried that I won't wake up for our flight at 0600 that I am awake all night. Al sleeps...as always. Friday, August 11 We make our 0600 flight to Atlanta. We have lost our first class seats tho and the flight is full. So many flights were delayed or cancelled the day before that people are milling about trying to catch any plane that they can. We finally leave Atlanta about 1030. I was happy to be flying somewhere. The flight to Vegas is about 3.5 hours. 24 hours after our journey began we finally land in Vegas. We are excited, but tired. We could have driven to Vegas in that time. We check into the Flamingo and try to track down Al's brother...see, his daughter Jenny is the reason we are in Vegas to start with...she is getting married. We connect with the relatives, take a little nap, gamble a little, and make dinner plans. Tonight we have tickets (at 1030) for the Cirque du Soliel at the Mirage. We are going to see 'Love'. I was so excited that I did not really feel tired. 9:30 at the Mirage for Love... All I can say is 90 minutes of ... Music, Dancing, Acrobatics, Color, Thoughtful, Thought provoking, Loud, Amazing, Inspired, Worth every penny of the ticket price and more, Action from beginning to end, Strength, Daring, Riveting, Captivating, Never a dull moment, You have to see this more than once, show. Do I need to say more ...
